Those that drink beer seem to gravitate towards fattier foods, while wine drinkers may prefer fruits, vegetables and low-fat cheeses. Do all these benefits mean that wine is the healthier choice? The skins are a part of the process in the production of red wine and it is believed that the skins themselves are what add the popular antioxidant and anti-bacterial properties we all crave.

The compounds in alcohol help to raise your good cholesterol levels (HDL) while keeping your bad cholesterol levels (LDL) a little lower. Alcohol also has a blood-thinning effect which helps to prevent the buildup of plaque in your arteries.
