Healthy Non-Alcoholic Cocktails for Kids

Everyone remembers being too young to have some of grandma’s special punch or a sip of mom’s champagne. Chances are we wouldn’t have liked the taste at that age anyway, but that’s beside the point. Children often feel left out at social gatherings because they don’t get to have special drinks in fancy glasses. They don’t know that alcohol isn’t good for them at such a young age or that it might make them feel ill the next morning. All they know is they can’t have any.

During your next family gathering, change that can’t into a can. No, that doesn’t mean you should give your children alcohol. What it means is that you create beverages for them that look like cocktails, but are non-alcoholic. They get to have the fun of a fancy drink without the ill effects. Best of all, these drinks are so good, the children might have to share them with the adults who are bypassing liquor calories at the party.

Strawberry White Grape Bellini

Bellinis are such a fancy cocktail. Traditionally made with champagne and peach puree, the drink is welcome at just about any party or gathering. It’s also a cocktail that is easy to transform for kids with sparkling juices. While this recipe calls for strawberry puree and white grape juice, you could use any combination you like.

2 ounces of strawberry puree
4 ounces of sparkling white grape juice

  1. Pour the puree into a champagne flute and slowly pour in the sparkling grape juice.

Milk Chocolate Peppermint Martini

Any child that has seen a James Bond movie knows how special a martini can be. While children won’t be sipping on vodka, they can enjoy this delicious spin on a chocolate martini. Best of all, the fat-free ingredients ensure that the drink remains healthy.

4 ounces of fat-free chocolate milk
1 drop of peppermint extract
8 ice cubes
Fat-free whipped cream
Crushed peppermint candies

  1. Pour the chocolate milk, peppermint extract and ice into a martini shaker and shake.
  2. Strain the mixture into a martini glass and top with whipped cream and crushed peppermints.
